General Motors has made major announcements that will see its entire product line “hybridized” within the next ten years. It has just taken major steps to develop its own Two Mode Hybrid system with partners Chrysler and BMW and new hybrid products have just entered the market. GM has stated that fully 80% of its entire product line with be hybrids by 2020. Chevrolet Malibu GM has introduced this newly redesigned model in 2008 with a hybrid option.

Saturn Hybrids This division of GM has released two new hybrids for 2008, the Vue SUV and the Aura.
Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra GM released a mild hybrid version of these light trucks in the 2005 model year. GM has announced that it will be releasing redesigned versions of both these models in 2008 as a full Two Mode hybrid. While the earlier version delivered only about a 10% fuel saving the Two Mode version should achieve a 25 – 40 % reduction in fuel use.

These large SUV’s are being introduced during 2008 with hybrid versions. GM has stated these models will achieve a 25% improvement in fuel consumption compared to the non-hybrid version and a 50% reduction in fuel use in city driving.
