Hyundai is close to releasing a hybrid model for sale as the company has announced that it expects to mass produce hybrid models starting in 2009. The first model will be the Elantra which may be available by 2010 in the North American market. The company has had a fleet of over 2500 hybrid vehicles operating in Korea for the last few years proving up technological platforms. Importantly, the company also stated that it will be offering fuel cell electric vehicles by 2012. Read their press release. |
