This Report has developed a number of tools to help consumers and fleet managers assess the costs and benefits of hybrids. 

The Hybrid Savings Tool enables a consumer to easily compare the financial, fuel and Greenhouse Gas benefits of any hybrid model sold vs. any conventional vehicle sold in the last ten years. This allows for a comparison, based on Government published fuel performance ratings, between both new models as well as new and used.

The cost comparison and lifecycle cost analytical tools are more complex and will be of prime interest to fleet managers. These tools were developed by fleet managers at the Government of British Columbia and the City of Vancouver to assist them in assessing hybrids in their fleet operations. These tools are offered here with permission.

Special Note: These are analytical tools only and are not predictors of any vehicle’s performance. Each vehicle and its application is different and as shown in the performance section of this Report actual fuel performance of hybrids does vary.
